More about this course...
Module 1
You get to find a 'sit spot' where you can slow down and connect with nature. Your sitting spot may be in a park or even on your balcony or in the backyard. There's a guided nature based meditation to help you relax. Your creativity will start to flow with a simple writing exercise.
Module 2
This module is about the senses. You get to open your senses to the sensory delights of nature. A guided mindfulness meditation will help you to deepen your sensory experience. Your nervous system will become more relaxed as you fine tune your senses to nature. Your imagination will get to join with a fun writing activity.
Module 3
Ready to slow down? In this module you get to practice walking meditation, to re-ignite your creativity in a surprising slow way and to let nature help your mind and body slow down.
Module 4
This is a messy module! Nature is naturally messy so lets be like Nature! You'll get full permission to send your inner critic voice off into the woods and throw out perfection pressure. The meditation will help you let go of perfection anxiety and to RELAX and just BE. What a relief! You get to do some fun nature art, no matter what season it is - without needing to be perfect!
Module 5
Module 5 is about noticing and appreciating beauty in nature. You get to have some photo fun, getting up close to nature with your phone/ camera. Feel inspired by the beauty and uniqueness in nature. The mindfulness meditation will help you tap into gratitude and relax.
Module 6
In module six we observe darkness and experience the magnificence nature at night (you can do this from inside too). You get to sit by a virtual campfire and tell or write a story. There is also an optional you-tube video to watch. Lastly you get to do a candle meditation that will help you wind down for a good night's sleep.
Module 7
This module is about wonderful water! Finding flow in your life. There is a calming water meditation and the invitation to spend some time in or by water. In the creative opportunity you will learn some simple, effective ways to get your creative juices and vitality flowing again.
Your Questions Answered
All sessions are prerecorded. There are seven modules and each have 3 units or activities. There are 21 exercises in total plus some bonuses. After you have completed one module, you can then move on to the next one. There will be a private email group to connect with others in the course and I will be part of the email group too. I ask you to post a paragraph or so about your experiences with each exercise in the private group comments section. I will reply to all of your comments, offering you personal guidance and reflection on your experiences. I will offer you tips and advice on how you can take nature therapy forward in your life.
Nature is everywhere. It's in the sky, the birds, a single tree or a weed even. You can do the nature therapy activities as you walk through the streets, in city park area or even looking out of a window if you can't go outside. You don't have to go to a wild nature place to do this course. It doesn't matter where you live or what season it is!
That's absolutely fine. You can connect with nature through a window or on a balcony. Nature therapy can teach us how to appreciate being outdoors and find beauty in nature in rainy weather or colder seasons. You will get more from the course if you can do at least some of the nature -based activities out in nature.
Yes. It is designed so you can do some of the activities during your work day - on the way for work and in breaks for example. The activities can be spaced throughout the day or evening.
The course is goes for 7 days, but you can do it over more days. The course is accessible for 6 months after enrolment.
There are 3 activities in each module. Most days two of the activities can be combined for example the nature activity and the mindfulness meditation. Most of the activities can be incorporated into your day. Give yourself approximately 45 minutes for each module. The meditations are generally about 10 minutes long. You may wish to do the meditation at the start or the end of the day. Some days you may wish to spend longer taking in and savouring the experiences.
You don't need any special creative ability at all. You can also skip any activity that doesn't appeal to you. Each day there are different creative opportunities e.g., photography, writing, nature art. Each day there is the opportunity to reflect about your experiences in a journal and there are some creative writing opportunities. You can use a paper journal for the course, or you may prefer to use electronic methods.
